Rich Cadden (Mr. C)

Rich has been training in Muay Thai since 1995 when he started with Pierre Mahon at Kao Loi Gym in York. After a short amateur career Rich realised he was more interested in competing and moved to the Bad Company Gym in Leeds. Rich has been training at Bad Company Gym,  3 or 4 tmes a week since 1997, and has accrued a wealth of knowledge training under Mr Richard Smith. Under this elite tutelage, Rich progressed through the domestic level bouts to be a well-recognised fighter on the international circuit. At the World Championships in Bangkok, he won a bronze medal in 2002 and in 2004 he lived in Thailand for 6 months where he fought out of Jitti Gym.

In 2005 Rich returned in October and challenged for the 67kilo WPMF World Title and won a convincing points victory over Mohammed RhomPho in Nonthanburi, just outside Bangkok. Richard has defended this title in Thailand every six-months until 2008. This is a very prestigious title and has been held by some of the biggest names in the sport, such as Sakmongkol Sitthichok, Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee and Akeomi Nitta (Japan).
Richard has been the number one light welterweight in the country from 2002 until 2009, and holding titles at 3 different weights.

Having had over 60 fights, Richard continues to build his reputation domestically and internationally with his fight career. Richard is now keen to share the decade of experience he has had fighting at all levels to deliver the best muay thai coaching around York and the UK.

Now, developing himself as a coach, Rich has formalised his wealth of experience with qualification in:

  • Diet and Nutrition
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Kettlebell training
  • Functional Training

Along-side all these weight-training programmes, Rich is calling on his 7-years of judo brown-belt experience, and also teaching MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and Thaiboxing for MMA.

Adding to this sports-specific training Rich has also branched out in to sports performance mind coaching, running his own business, Star Performance Mind Coaching. This is an NLP-based performance mind coaching business and he is proving to be one of the UK’s leading sports mind coaches. This has also attracted the attension of other sports such as MMA, Marathon running, Triathletes, Bodybuilding, Climbing, Stock-car Racing and Golf; And this is to get the very best out of peoples performance with no mental blocks or limiting beliefs.

Danny Giblin – Mixed Martial Arts Coach

Danny is a long serving member of the Quannum Fight Team and UK M1 Team.
He is a brown belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu , has trained with Rich Cadden for his stand-up skills for the past 7-years and has wrestled in the USA (University of Vermont).
After a break for the majority of 2011 to focus on his professional educational career, he has turned his hand to coaching and is hoping to get back to competition in 2012.


Danny Mitchell – Brazilian Ju-Jitsu Coach

Danny is a BJJ Black belt under Combat Base UK and has been training in martial arts since a very early age. He has won multiple medals in national grappling tournaments. He has fought all over the world including Germany, France, Spain, Sweden and the Middle East.
In 2011 he won the MMA Submission of the Year, with his ‘Flying Triangle’ on Dean Amasinger on the BAMMA 8 Show in Nottingham.

Josh Dilcock – Assistant Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor

Josh joined Chokdee coaching team in 2013, and instructs under the guidance of Danny Mitchell. Josh is a Combat Base Purple Belt and has developed several students through from raw novice to achieving their blue belt. Josh is also an experienced wrestler, no gi competitor, thaiboxer and MMA fighter (10f experience).

Jo Cadden

Jo is an exercise professional with over 15 year’s experience. A specialist in personal training, exercise programmes, diet and nutrition, Jo is focused on results based exercise packages. Under the tuition of Rich Cadden, Jo has found that Thai boxing provides the motivation needed to maintain a healthy interest in the sport which contributes massively to an overall healthy lifestyle. Jo offers a woman’s perception of Muay Thai both as a self defence mechanism and an exhilarating workout. Jo both supports Rich with teaching technique as well as providing thorough warm-ups and high-intensity cardio training sessions.

Jo has been the Health and Fitness Manager at the majority of the Health Club chains in York and Leeds before setting up her own brand of specialised fitness classes with ‘Yumi Mummy Fitness‘.

Kris Leeson – Wrestling Coach

Kris is a former international level wrestler, having competed in USA and National competition. In 2014 Kris and Rich set up Yorks first and only Wrestling club and have grown an army of junior wrestlers.
Coach Leesons wrestling skills compliment the high level tuition already at Chokdee, and merges well with the BJJ and MMA teams.
